Review Of The Beurer FB12 UK Foot Spa (Not So Rosy)

Recently, my luxury foot massager got spa-napped by my sister-in-law who held it hostage and absolutely wouldn’t give it back. Who can blame her?

I decided to go shopping the next day to look for my new foot spa, but since I was sort of broke (very broke), I settled on the Beurer FB12UK Classic Foot Spa, the Beurer’s entry level foot spa machine.

Normally, I review most of my purchases, and as a responsible and rather choosy foot spa connoisseur, I couldn’t let anyone else go in there blind and uninformed. Here’s my honest review of the Beurer FB12 Footspa, its strong points and even some very disappointing aspects.

What are you buying?

That’s an excellent question. I was under the stern impression that I was buying a heated foot spa with lots of nifty features such as bubbles and vibration. I was taken aback by the utter simplicity of the design as well as the features that seemed inefficient if not entirely useless.

To answer your question as truthfully as possible, what you’re buying is a light plastic bowl with some awkward-feeling plastic dimples and a poor excuse for bubbles. Now, did it do the job? Barely; the Beurer FB12UK Classic Foot Spa looks and works as if it was made to barely get the job done. It’s as if the manufacturer just wanted something that has all the features of a modern foot spa, but really none of the functionality.

However, the Beurer FB12 Footspa is not entirely a total disappointment. For its customer friendly price range, it worked my feet over really well. I especially appreciated the extra tough nodules at the bottom that magnificently poke into the depths of my hoof-like soles.

My husband claims that the nodules are super hard and uncomfortable, like performing a nail-walk in the circus (serves her right for letting her sister rob me blind), but I think it’s great. As for the bubbles that are described as gentle but forceful, I think it’s more gentle than forceful. Just didn’t do it for me. And where is this vibration? Is it just me or were the vibrations just not coming through?

How easy is it to use?

First off, let’s give it up for the Beurer FB12UK Classic Foot Spa because when it comes to ease of operation, this might just be the most successful model I have ever come across.

Since it’s basically a studded plastic bowl, this foot spa is so easy to use it’s almost a crime. I think every manufacturer out there needs to get some pointers from Beurer. The FB12UK incorporates super lightweight construction and one of the least complex designs in any foot spa.

One of the most well thought out features here is an aptly positioned drainage hole that works great. You just open up the easy empty drain at the toe end of your foot spa. You don’t even need to read the instructions. Just add warm or cold water, dip your toes in and try not to get lost looking for the bubbles.

• The plastic nodules that are supposed to massage your feet are really tough and uncomfortable for most; try not to put all your weight on your feet.

Anything else you should know?

I don’t know if I’m alone on this or if other buyers noticed there was a problem with the instructions. They explicitly say that you can switch on the heater if you want warm water, but the product itself does not have any signs of heating technology. In fact, hot water cools really fast here. But with the extra hardened nodes, you won’t be massaging your feet for too long.

Conclusion

Now, do I regret buying the Beurer FB12 Classic Foot Spa? The answer is a definite no. Even with all its weak points, this foot spa makes for one hell of a rub down. Not only is it pocket-friendly, but it’s unique lightweight design and ease of operation make it worth every penny. For me, I’m kind of using it as a substitute because I’m in-between foot spas, but overall, I think the Beurer FB12 Classic Foot Spa is worth giving a try for casual foot spa lovers looking to save a few coins.
